Our brand
Behind us is a great love for a unique product, being born and raised at the foot of Mount Etna, where once was all vineyards and every house had a winepress. Our house had one too and as children we often took part in the happy rite of the annual wine pressing.
What emerged from our early discussions about the venture was that our starting point and our goals coincided with the choice of a brand name.
The starting point was clear: our name had to be expressive and comprehensible to the largest possible number of people. During one of our long brainstorming sessions we came upon the Italian word "icone" (icon in English). A pledge to the quality of our products.
It seemed a simple, intuitive name. Understandable by anyone speaking a European language, and today there really are many around the world who do.
But at the same time it symbolised where we wanted to go with our wines – they had to be something special in this vast and chequered world of ours.
